Introduction

Dawurobo Safe ("we," "us," or "our") operates the marketplace at safe.dawurobo.com and is part of the Dawurobo platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you browse, shop, sell, and order deliveries through our services. We handle personal data in line with Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).

By using Dawurobo Safe, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not access the site.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide Directly

  • Account information: Your name, email address, and phone number when you create an account or verify your phone with a one-time code. Your Dawurobo account is shared across Dawurobo products.
  • Order information: The products you order, the recipient's name and phone number, your delivery address, and — when you pick a location on the map — the coordinates of your chosen drop-off point.
  • Payment information: Online payments are processed by licensed third-party payment providers. We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded or failed, the amount, and a payment reference — we never see or store your mobile money PIN or full card details.
  • Seller information: Business name, address, contact details, category, description, product listings and payout details when you register as a seller.
  • Reviews and reports: The content of reviews you submit after delivered orders, and the details of any problems you report about an order.
  • Contact information: Your name and email address when you contact us through our website or email.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Device data: Browser type, operating system, device type, and screen resolution.
  • Usage data: Pages visited, products viewed, searches, time spent on pages, referring website, and navigation patterns.
  • Location data: Approximate geographic location based on your IP address.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: We use cookies, local storage (for example to remember your cart and saved items on your device), and analytics tools (PostHog and Vercel Analytics) to understand how our site is used and to improve the experience.

Information from Dawurobo Delivery

For businesses listed on Dawurobo Safe, we access delivery performance data from the Dawurobo Delivery platform, including total deliveries, cash on delivery acceptance rates, and aggregate customer satisfaction metrics. This data is used to verify businesses and provide transparency to consumers. For your orders, we receive delivery status updates (for example "picked up" or "delivered") so we can show them on your order page.

How We Use Your Information

  • To operate the marketplace: process your orders, collect payment, coordinate delivery, and pay sellers.
  • To send you service messages about your orders by SMS, push notification, in-app notification, and (where enabled) email — for example order confirmations, payment reminders, and delivery updates.
  • To verify and list businesses on our directory, ensuring the accuracy and trustworthiness of listings.
  • To display business reviews and delivery performance data to help consumers make informed decisions.
  • To handle refunds, returns, and problem reports under our Refunds & Returns Policy.
  • To respond to your inquiries, support requests, and feedback.
  • To analyze usage and improve the experience through analytics.
  • To detect and prevent fraud, scams, review manipulation, and other harmful activity on our platform.
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • To fulfil your order: the seller sees what you ordered and the recipient details needed to prepare it; Dawurobo Delivery and the assigned rider receive the recipient name, phone number, address and drop-off location to deliver it.
  • Payment providers: the licensed payment processors that handle online payments receive the details needed to charge and, where applicable, refund you.
  • Within the Dawurobo platform: we share data between Dawurobo Safe and Dawurobo Delivery to verify business listings, price deliveries accurately, and show delivery updates on your orders.
  • Service providers: third parties who help us operate the platform — hosting (Vercel), database and authentication (Google Firebase), analytics (PostHog, Vercel Analytics), SMS delivery, and email delivery (Resend).
  • Public business information: information that businesses submit for their public listing (business name, category, description, contact information, products) is displayed publicly on the platform.
  • Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities in Ghana.

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), secure cloud infrastructure, access controls for our team members, and rate-limited, verified access to sensitive actions like phone verification.

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Data Retention

We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. Order and payment records are retained for as long as required for accounting, dispute resolution, and legal compliance. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your cart and preferences, and understand how the site is used. We use analytics through PostHog and Vercel Analytics to collect usage data that helps us improve the product. You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings; disabling cookies may affect some features of the website, such as staying signed in.

Your Rights

Under Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) and other applicable law, you have rights over your personal information, including:

  • The right to access the personal information we hold about you.
  • The right to request correction of inaccurate personal information.
  • The right to request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal obligations.
  • The right to withdraw consent for data processing where applicable.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at support@dawurobo.com. We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe.
